SUSTAINABILITY AND SOCIAL
RESPONSIBILITY
Centurion Corporation Limited is committed to
preserving the integrity of our business practices and
the lives that we touch. Businesses cannot be silos and
we strive to achieve a balance between our needs and
those of stakeholders to yield mutual benefits in the
long-term.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
We have a symbiotic relationship with local
communities and the wider society. Conducting our
business in a way that upholds the highest standards of
safety and security, while limiting any negative impact
on the environment, is core to the way we operate.
All our manufacturing plants relating to the Group’s
Optical Disc Business are certified under ISO14001:
Environmental Management Standards, which
requires the plants to adhere to a strict set of rules. Our
plants keep track of their environmental performance
by measuring and recording consumption of resources
and disposal of waste, among other metrics.
The Group’s Accommodation Business strives to
strengthen resources efficiency. Out of respect for the
environment, we have invested substantial resources,
and adopted policies and procedures to enhance
sustainability and increase efficiency. This includes
incorporating and favouring eco-friendly features in
the design of our accommodations, such as the usage
of sustainable construction materials and allowing for
optimal use of natural light. The green initiatives are
features in our indoor residential environment as well.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
At Centurion, we recognise that residents staying at
our accommodation are at the heart of our success
and understand that we have a responsibility
beyond providing for their basic well-being. We are
committed to purposefully engaging in causes related
to education, health, sports development and other
community services, to provide our residents with a
better quality of life.
In 2013, in line with our aim to promote a well-balanced
and enriching stay for our foreign residents, we
organised a series of activities and excursions for them.
These include trips to the India High Commission, the
Singapore Air Show, as well as the Jurong Bird Park.
We also organised soccer competitions, yoga
sessions, Christmas parties, and the annual Westlite
variety show and karaoke session for our residents to
foster a sense of community and bonding. By creating
a common platform for our residents to interact with
each other and the community, they have been able to
better integrate into the local communities and spend
their time away from home more meaningfully.
With quality of life in mind, we continually strive to
provide our residents with quality accommodation in
conducive living environment. Our accommodations
include a range of facilities and amenities such as
supermarkets, food courts, gymnasiums, barbers,
reading rooms, multi-purpose halls, and internet
facilities.
